4th of July Parade

For my first picture I use one I took at the Fairfax 4th of July parade. I like the compositon of this picture because the red fish (from the Dr. Seuss book "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish") fills the picture and you have one of the handlers on his knees resting. It was a very hot day and they had to wrestle these balloon animals down under a lot of power lines along the parade route.
Canon SD400 with no post processing.
Feel free to post a comment and let me know how I could have done this better.
The purpose of this blog
Yeah! yet another blog about someone's mundane life. Not really. I would like to become a better photographer (or a real photographer) but I have a long way to go. This blog is a history of that journey.
At this time I only have a Canon SD400 point and shoot (hence the name of the blog). I would like to upgrade some day to a Canon 30D or Nikon D200 with some serious glass (lenses). But, as I am out of work right now that won't happen anytime soon.
But, it is not really the camera that makes the photographer good. It can be a big help and a better camera will have fewer limitations, but a good photographer who knows how to shoot (and a little post processing) can get that "wow" picture with almost anything. So I think my SD400 will be a good tool to learn how to use the elements of good photography and get some good pictures. Or at least that's my theory and until I can afford a better camera that will stay my story. :-)
Oh, and since this is my personal journey (but done in public) you are welcome to visit but I don’t think you will find it very interesting.
